Avalon Public Library seeks candidates for a part-time Library Clerk position. Daytime, evening, and weekend hours required. Library clerks assist our patrons by: checking out library materials, locating information, and providing assistance with basic computer usage.  Library clerks also do a lot of behind the scenes work shelving and processing books, helping out with preparing programs, and basic library maintenance.

     Qualifications:
• High School diploma or G.E.D. required
• Experience working with the general public
• Excellent customer service and writing skills
• Knowledge of, or willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite
• Able to stretch, lift, bend, squat and remain standing for long periods of time
• Available some evenings AND weekends
• PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprint Criminal History must be obtained prior to employment

Job Title: Programming Coordinator
Reports To: Library Director
Standard Hours: 20.5 hours per week

Programming Duties include:
*Develop, initiate, implement original programs for families, teens, and children
*Maintain/facilitate existing programs
*Network/cooperate with community agencies
*Publicize program and activities (work with director for social media posts)
*Create engaging flyers for inside the library on Microsoft Publisher so they can be turned into photos to share on social media
*Help to maintain order in the Children’s Department sections of the library
*Attend meetings and trainings, locally and regionally, as needed and as approved by the director
*Track program statistics
*Perform outreach and advocacy in the community at local daycares, preschools, and schools including frequent visits
*Maintain storage of craft supplies, prizes, Play K materials, etc.
*Keep library desk calendar up to date with all programs.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING:
*Minimum of 3 weekly virtual programs planned specifically for children
